So-called Conservative Supports Gun Confiscation

David Codrea discusses an assertion Bill O'Reilly made during his interview of Stewart Rhodes of Oath Keepers. O'Reilly apparently claimed the Constitution is no impediment to disarming peaceable citizens during "emergencies".
Asking Rhodes why it is legitimate for Oath Keepers to even discuss government disarming Americans, Rhodes properly cited exactly that happening in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. When O'Reilly brought up a state of emergency, Rhodes shot back by challenging him to show "where...it say[s] in the Constitution that bad weather suspends the Constitution."

"It's not a matter of bad weather," O'Reilly replied. "It's a matter of can't control the city.
Read the whole thing. O'Reilly just plain doesn't get it.

Open Letter to Law Enforcement

Mike Vanderboegh over at Sipsey Steet Irregulars has written a very good appeal to American Law Enforcement entitled “Choose this day whom you will serve.”: An Open Letter to American Law Enforcement.

 Read it.  Spread it around.

Frankly I don't think it will do much good because the overwhelming majority of LEOs will drink whatever Kool Aid they must to keep getting the King's gold.  However, honor demands that something like this be tried and, just maybe, a few LEOs will remember what it means to take an oath.

On Shooting Colonels and Other Unlikely Events

Read these in order:
  1. When to Shoot the Colonels
  2. "When to Shoot the Colonels": A West Pointer's ad seriatim commentary upon Baugh's essay.
  3. Reprise on 'When to Shoot The Colonels'
I was talking this over with a friend and he argued that a nationwide gun confiscation won't happen all at once. His suggestion was to get troops used to treating citizens like subjects in small increments. Maybe start off with the areas controlled by street gangs -- nobody likes them.
  1. Surround and close off area like South Central LA (#6 on the Oath Keepers Declaration of Orders We Will Not Obey)
  2. Start systematic searches of residences (#2)
  3. Confiscate any guns found (#1).

Stewart Rhodes on Chris Matthews Show

Stewart Rhodes was on the Chris Matthews Show along with Mark Potok of the SPLC. By all accounts he fared well despite hostile questioning by Matthews. During the interview Rhodes delivered a line something like,

"We swear an oath to the Constitution, not to a man, even if he makes a thrill run up your leg when he talks."

Apparently Matthews was taken aback by this.  It took him several seconds to get his stride back.  Great lines like that only happen once in while. I hope it goes viral on the Internet and talk radio.

Part of the interview is now up on YouTube.  You can see how Matthews tries to turn the whole thing into a monologue.

Read more at Sipsey Street Irregulars, "Rhodes takes the raving wild punches of Matthews and delivers one right between the eyes."
